Piathought

One of my goals for this year is to travel more and be with nature again! Being a Manila girl, I believe we all deserve to have a break with all the hustle and bustle of the city and feel nature again.

I am aiming to celebrate my birthday in Tagaytay and roam around the city with my family. However, a blessing came as I was invited for a media tour last January 17, 2015 at Paradizoo for Zoomanity Group's Paradizoo: Power of Three Launch.

Even though our way was really congested because it is a Saturday, I personally had so much fun with the view and provincial 'feel' that I am yearning for for months already.

What is Paradizoo?

Before we go through each and every photo, let me introduce to you PARADIZOO byZoomanity Group.

Paradizoo is located in Mendez, Cavite which is ideal for picnics, educational field trips, outdoor and group outing programs. It is a fascinating paradise that showcases the beauty of flora and fauna. Have a taste of this magnificent theme farm with its latest attractions.

So happy to be in my white turtle neck long sleeves because of the cold wind!

Happy to spend the whole day with my ♥ too! (I usually use ♥ for my boyfriend) Seems like he is really enjoying this cool and green place.

Welcome to Paradizoo!

Paradizoo also has Discovery shop, Paradizoo Cafe, playground and many more that will capture your heart.

Flower Festival Week

We had so much fun because we witnessed the launch of Flower Festival, first of Paradizoo: Power of Three.

Flower Festival Week is a festival of breathtaking floral designs, formal hedges and topiary from January 17, 2015 to Feb 6, 2015.

January 17, 2015 has been blessed with so much activities for the Flower Festival Week:

- Ribbon Cutting of Camper Van
- Ms. Lita Ibarra - "Orchids and Flower Arrangement"
- Ms. Timmy Cruz - "I love You, Mother Nature"

Timmy Cruz singing I love you, Mother Nature.

After the activities, we had the chance to roam around Paradizoo and took some lovely pictures with the animals, pretty flowers and landscapes.

Looks like this camel is really friendly!

WHY.ARE.YOU.KISSING.HIM. Haha. ♥

We had so much fun with these love birds!

Paradizoo is indeed a lovely paradise. If you want to go picnic with your love ones, or just be with nature again, Paradizoo is for you!

Philippine Science Centrum (PSC) is a premier hands-on science center museum in the country recognized by the Department of Education, Department of Science and Technology and the Department of Tourism as an ideal venue for educational field trip destination where visitors are encouraged to touch, twist, play, hear, see the interactive exhibits displayed. PSC is open to pre-school to college students, families and the general public.

As the team says, Science is fun! Here at PSC, there is just so much to see, touch, and smell! Watch as your hair goes up in the air, go inside a distorted house, pop-out your head in a platter of fruits, and many exciting interactive exhibits!

Philippine Science Centrum is located at E-Com Building in Riverbanks Center, Barangka, Marikina City. This 2,500 sq meters facility can comfortably accommodate 3,000 visitors in a day or 500 visitors in any given time slot.

Last December 6, 2014, I, together with my fellow bloggers, experienced all the thrills here at the Philippine Science Centrum. And because it was my very first time to be in this science-filled museum (plus I'm with my blogger friends and met new people), I really had so much fun!

Here are the Top 6 exhibits I love the most here at the Philippine Science Centrum:

1. Human Gyro Ride

The ride is made up of a frame with two posts between which the outer ring is suspended. This outer ring will rotate forward or backward. A middle ring is attached so that its axis is from top to bottom of the outer ring. The axis of rotation is vertical. A third ring – the inner ring is attached to the middle with bearings on the left and right. The belt support, the feet hold where you stand is at the inner ring. During the ride, you will find yourself rotating about the axis of the inner ring, then the outer ring is rotated, eventually you will not only be spinning head over heels, but also spinning around and around as well!

This interactive exhibit is based on the machine developed by NASA in the 1960′s for use in the training program of the Apollo and Gemini Astronauts. This enabled the astronauts to become comfortable with the simulated experience of weightlessness and the roll and tumble inside their space craft.

We were asked who wants to try this exhibit and because I thought this will make me dizzy, I didn't waived my hand up high though I really want to try! But -- I learned afterwards that riders do not experience motion sickness because of the changing direction of the spin, which keeps the inner ear balanced. How cool is that?

2. Finger Tingler

This is the first exhibit we had for the team. The museum assistants requested us to form a circle while holding hands. He then rotated the crank, which means electricity is  produced as indicated by the voltmeter needle. And afterwards, we experienced a tingling feeling or mild electric shock in our fingers! This indicates that electricity flows though our fingers as in a closed circuit.

We just had so much fun that we want to have a second try!

3. Magic Faucet

(c) Philippine Science Centrum
I really had fun while watching and examining this giant magic faucet! This faucet figure is supported by a clear acrylic tube on its spout.  Since both water and the acrylic tube are transparent materials with very close indices of refraction, there is little change in the speed of light that passes through them. There is little reflection and refraction of light and thus, the acrylic tube blends into the water flow. This makes the faucet appear to float in midair. The turbulence of the falling water further hides the acrylic tube and enhances the optical illusion.

This really makes me 'Wow' every single time I visit this place.

4. Distorted Room

This two cute fellows somewhat have the same height. But here, one looks much taller than the other. Why is that?

Since our brain is accustomed to seeing rectangular rooms, we tend to perceive the distorted room as rectangular. The shape of the walls of the distorted room is constructed to make them appear the same as a rectangular room when viewed from the same spot.

This distorted room is also called Ames room, named after Adelbert, Ames Jr., an AMerican scientist who became known for studying and experimenting on illusions involving size and distance judgement.

5. Anti Gravity Mirror

The human body exhibits bilateral symmetry. This means that only one plane, called the sagittal plane, divides the body into roughly mirror image halves (external appearance only). The two halves can be referred to as the right and left halves. The right half is similar to the left half in size, shape and parts.

To an observer the reflection of the exposed half (left side) on the mirror appears to be the right half of the body, so the person looks whole. The lifted leg is also reflected by the mirror. This is why the person appears to be suspended in air and not pulled down by gravity.

6. Wonder House

When we walked into the house, we saw that the floor is horizontal and the walls are perpendicular to it. Based on experience, we know that we can stand upright. However, we have the difficulty because our body tilts.

The sense of balance explains this contradiction between what you see and what you actually experience. We really had fun in this wonder house; but this made me so dizzy but amazed at the same time.

So these are just some of the exhibits you can try here at the Philippine Science Centrum. For more information, you may check them out here. Below are some faqs for Philippine Science Centrum.

As mentioned in my previous blog post about Techne, I am never really into makeup. I feel like my face is like that of a scary clown in full paint. (Maybe that's the reason why I never really want to paint my face. Haha.)

But I realized.. Why not try new stuff, be adventurous, walk out of my comfort zone, and just be free to do more, seek more, and be more?

I know! This really sounds exciting! It's like doing what you really want to do and not just stuck with what life commands you to do.

And oh! Do you still remember your first make up ever?
Because personally, I will never forget my first all out makeup.

I can still remember when I tried to put my makeup on with just a pressed powder, black eyebrow pencil, and red lipstick. And then, my Mother scolded me. For what? For my panda-looking eyebrows! Yes! And we didn't talk the whole day because I still want my pitiful eyebrows. Haha. I can't resist laughing now whenever I remember that!

Good thing there are now very useful Youtube Makeup tutorials posted by the famous HMUAs (Hair and Makeup Artists).

BUT being in an actual makeup workshop is, of course, way much better.

Before we talk about the event itself, let me first introduce Techne.

Techne means beauty in all aspects of art. It aims to help fellow Filipino women to know more about the basics of makeup to how to put your holiday makeup, to shaping your eyebrows, and many more.

But wait! Techne's workshops doesn't end only in makeup. So watch out for more workshops, events, seminars on photography, modeling, drawing/sketching, personality development, and many other surprises that will help you unleash the creative side in you! I know these will really be exciting!

It was last November 15, 2014 when I got to attend this awesome makeup workshop which is now on its 3rd batch. This was held at Thompson Square, Tomas Morato, Quezon City and lasted for about five long yet super fun hours!

It is really a privilege to know people behind Techne. Aside from being super talented, all-in-one beautiful Donyas, they are also kind, friendly, and humble ones.

L-R: Vicel, Rizza and Nizza

1.  Vicel Enriquez

Vicel Enriquez is the group's professional Hair and Makeup Artist. She is practicing makeup for over five years already! Big thanks as well to Makeup Design Academy in Quezon City for molding her into being a professional HMUA! Currently, she is managing Kiss N Makeup by Vicel, a group of talented Hair and Makeup Artists.

This beautiful woman is a cool and sweet Mom to her cute baby girl, a lovely wife to her only one, and a lover of makeup and art! (Need I say more?)

2. Nizza Gueco

Another talented artist of the group is Nizza Gueco. She is an Architect by profession, and a blogger and baker of delicious goodies by heart! You really have to try her cookies, cupcakes, and other delicious pastries! Did I also say she's into modeling and actually entered modeling school? This beautiful woman is really interesting!

Nizza also has this very friendly smile, positive aura, and big heart for everyone!

3. Rizza Kho

Last but certainly not the least, Rizza Kho. Rizza is a nurse by profession, but then again, she is an artist by heart. She loves arts, most especially sketching and drawing!

What I love the most about this pretty lady is her soaring confidence which inspires everyone around her!

My Three Takeways from Techne's Makeup Workshop

I believe we should always go for the better us and strive to unleash the beauty hiding somewhere within us, and to look for ways on how to nurture our God given beauty.

This Makeup workshop tackled about how to do your brows, how to apply  that holiday  and everyday makeup, basic skin care, and highlight and contour. And listed below are my top three lessons learned from Techne's Makeup Workshop.

1. Practice, practice, and practice.

As Vicel said, practice makes permanent. As applied to all, practice is our best friend in achieving our goals. We have to also be very patient in doing arts in our face and just enjoy make up!

Never give up, never be afraid to ask, and never forget to practice!

2. Take time to check your brows.

"Why are you so sad, dear eyebrows?", asked by Wheng Divah, their fellow HMUA who assisted me with my brows. I really laughed so hard because I know that my brows' shape is like a slant letter "l" with no shape! And I don't even have the time to try and correct those! Haha! Or should I say I don't really know how?

So I am the happiest when he helped me shape my brows! So there guys, we really have to check our brows, because good brows can light your face.

3. Apply your makeup, experiment, and go out.

Never be afraid to go out with your makeup on. This enhances our looks, boosts our confidence, and unleashes that beautiful you that you never thought will be you!

So, never be afraid to experiment with brushes, eye liners, palettes, lipsticks and many others! And lastly, go out. Show the world what you've got.

And then, we also had photoshoot by Xic Gueco of X Marks the Shot right then and there! We have our before and after photoshoot, candid shots, and of course, group shots! We really had a whole lot of fun!

And to complete the day, the very talented Nizza Gueco, prepared a pastry buffet by her very own Paulettes Choclettes! I tell you guys, this is one of the best cookies I've ever eaten in my life. This may seem a bit over but I think you really have to try one if you want to know why. :)

Now you know the reasons why I love Techne Makeup Workshop. And I believe you should too!

I was never really into makeup. I was brought up with just Johnson's Baby Powder on my right hand and a comb to my left. I am not the type of woman who is always in front of the mirror for long minutes checking every detail of her face.

But then, now that I am working in the corporate world, meeting new people every single day, I realized, "Why not try something new? Why not explore and go out of my comfort zone? Why not try Makeup 101?"
Hmm. Sounds exciting!

Luckily, I was invited by Techne for their Makeup Workshop Batch 3. The excitement in me overflowed when I got to read my blogger friend's blog about Techne's previous Makeup Workshops Batch 1 and Batch 2! They surely had fun!
